WELCOME

The Phantom Weekly

Let me introduce you to Finn, who plays an important part in The Phantom Wore Red Pajamas.

Finn had a birthday in April. He even had his own cake. He doesn’t like to have his picture taken so I was lucky to get this.

Finn thinks he’s the boss in our home, but I’ll tell you a secret, I have a cat named Jasper. He was in our home first and he rules the roost. Finn is the tattletale. For example, if my husband drops something and doesn’t pick it up, Finn reports the crime by yipping and harumphing. I’m not sure what he’s saying when he harumphs. Papillons are French, so maybe he’s cussing in his native language.

I was hospitalized recently. When I was released and came home, neither Finn nor Jasper left my side. I should have gotten them little nurse hats. When I was well again, they returned to their entertaining ways. They make me laugh every day. I don’t “own” my fur babies. They are part of my family. I don’t believe anyone owns an animal. If anything, our family “pets” own us.

Finn is quite attached to his mama. I haven’t gone to the bathroom by myself in years. Maybe he thinks that since I am with him when he potties, he needs to be there when I need to go. I recently purchased one of those deep walk-in bathtubs. Finn does not like it at all. He stays by the bathroom door with concern on his little face. I think he’s afraid he’s going to get a bath too. Having a bath is one of his least favorite things. When we go to the beach, he has to sit on a towel because he doesn’t like to get sand on him. He really doesn’t like to get dirty and will lift a paw if it gets dirt on it. Yuck! Get it off me, mama. How is it that he doesn’t like to get dirty but hates taking a bath? After a bath, he gives me the beasty boy look. He lowers his head and looks up at me with his eyes as if he’s saying, “I’ll get you for this!”

Finn has a girlfriend. Her name is Laney, and she lives next door. They play with each other every day. It is so cute when they rub noses. My neighbor and I are convinced that if one of them learns to drive, they’ll elope.

Please read next week’s blog to find out about Jasper, the king of the house.
